Between childhood memories and family games, The radio that spoke English It tells a story almost entirely inspired by true events. The humor stems from the pranks an uncle liked to play on the children—and the explanations they came up with to believe them.

I was hired by the publisher ABC Projetos to illustrate the book, giving form to the characters, settings, and situations of the narrative.

The starting point for creating the little old man in the lilac shirt was the author's own uncle, who inspired the mischief recounted in the story.

The character's visual design sought to convey his playful nature. His broad smile, expressive gestures, and the look behind his glasses help present someone who seems to be constantly plotting the next prank.

Across the double-page spreads, the scenes expand around the text, following the rhythm of the narrative. The characters' expressions and gestures highlight the sense of complicity, surprise, and frustration that are part of these childhood games.

The colors and textures bring the images closer to the story's emotional world, connecting family memory with the language of children's books.
